You don't have to do any of this by hand. Paste this whole page, or the PDF, into Claude Code or Codex and say "set this up and run it on my problem". It will install yt-dlp, pull the transcript and run the Extract step with you.
Spot the expert who already solved your exact problem.
Search YouTube with your problem in plain words. Skip the 8-minute videos, the depth lives in the 1 to 2 hour talks, courses and podcast interviews. Pick someone who actually does the work, their real numbers and screenshots give it away.
Pull the transcript with yt-dlp.
yt-dlp is a free command-line tool. Install it once:
Mac: brew install yt-dlp
Windows: winget install yt-dlpThen run this on any video:
yt-dlp --skip-download --write-auto-subs --sub-lang en --convert-subs srt -o "%(title)s.%(ext)s" "VIDEO_URL"You get a .srt file with every word of the video. That file is your raw material.
Feed it to Claude and pull out what fits your case.
Attach or paste the transcript, then use this prompt. Fill in the three brackets:
You are my advisor on [your problem]. Attached is the transcript of a video by [expert name], who has solved this exact problem.
Goal: pull out only the advice that applies to my situation.
Context: [3 sentences. What you do, what is stuck, what you already tried.]
Source: use only this transcript. Quote the expert's own words for each point.
Expectations: give me the 5 most relevant moves, ranked by impact, each with one step I can take this week.
Before you answer, ask me up to 3 questions if anything about my situation is unclear.Use it on the real bottleneck, with Claude beside you.
Take the top move and apply it to real work the same day. Keep Claude open while you do it and feed it what happens. One move done properly beats five started.

A saved prompt or a checklist works, so does a Claude skill. The point is the same in any form, the next time this problem shows up you already own the answer.
